Automotive Dealers Must Adopt Social Media

Automotive dealers pay high dollars for full-page, four-color, advertising. Don’t take it wrong, there are still a handful of readers that will never adopt owning a computer and prefer reading a newspaper. There are automotive dealers with the old-school mindsets that think thier money is well spent in print media.

Who reads the local newspaper anyhow? Buying newspapers or subscribing to anything paper must be a past time or waste of money. There is certainly a shift in the way we communicate and that shift is online.

I just read that Dell Computers sold three million computers using Twitter at www.socialnomics.com

Ford has allocated 25% of their advertising budget toward digital media/social media. Oh by the way, Ford was the only US auto company that didn’t take a government loan. 37% of generation Y were of the Ford Fiesta via social media before its launch in the US that can be read here.

Twelve years I have served in the auto industry and it is amazing to see how many dealers still do the same old techniques and expect the same results. Get a clue and hire a social media strategist and just maybe he or she can save you. Does this last statement sound a little strong? You’re right, it was a little strong. Even stronger than my statement isScott Monty’s Blog who is leaders of Ford Motor Company’s social media http://www.scottmonty.com Take a look!!!!
